Differences between leaf miner and tomato leaf miner.
This new type of tomato leaf miner is different from the existing tomato leaf miner in Thailand. The original leaf miner is a fly larva with no legs and no clearly visible head. The adult is a small fly, about 2 millimeters in size, yellow mixed with black. It destroys tomatoes by tunneling through the leaves. However, the tomato leaf miner has a clearly visible head and has both real and pseudo legs. In addition, it mines leaves in a wide area and can also bore into the fruit.
Therefore, if farmers survey the tomato plot and find damaged tomatoes or find leaf miners with both real and pseudo-legs that are consistent with the characteristics of the tomato leaf miner, they must be removed from the plot and notified agricultural officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives as soon as possible to verify and take further action before it spreads to other areas.
Prevention and elimination
Use chemicals to prevent and eliminate pests.
Atero (emamectin benzoate) 5% SG at a rate of 20-30 grams per 20 liters of water (substance in group 6)
Vigera SL (imidacloprid) 10% W/V SL at a rate of 10-20 cc per 20 liters of water (Group 4 substance)
* Note: Spray insecticides every 5-7 days for 2-3 consecutive times, using different groups of chemicals, alternating at least 2 groups in 1 life cycle (30 days) and leaving a gap, do not use the same group of chemicals in the next life cycle to reduce the creation of insecticide resistance.
